Best Hitters of the Month - June

Best Hitters of the Month - June

Sometimes digging too hard for the gems in your drafting sessions will leave you clenching your fists with disgust. Most of the names on this list are no surprise, but they're put down on here to keep you centered. Best of luck too all the down-and-out hopefuls that just keep trying each night, and a big congrats to all the top winners in DS, your unparalleled sharpness has earned you the dough.

Some of the Best Hitters Last Month

Matt Kemp (CF, Dodgers) – Despite the Dodgers' financial woes off the field, Kemp has been able to earn his money with his recent hitting. Kemp tied Prince Fielder last month in total RBIs with 27, including ten home runs. He had the highest slugging and on base percentage during June. (Last 30 days: 19 R, 35 H, 10 HR, 27 RBI)

Prince Fielder (1B, Brewers) – If you’re looking for home runs, you’ll be sure to find some in Milwaukee behind Ryan Braun and Fielder. Lately, Fielder has been able to consistently slice in some balls into the open field, earning several RBIs along the way. He hasn’t hit a homer in his last four games, so he’s definitely due to knock it out of the ball park some time soon. (Last 30 days: 19 R, 28 H, 10 HR, 27 RBI)

Adrian Gonzalez (1B, Red Sox) – Boston’s reliable hitter at first base had another productive month for the Sox, carrying the best batting average during June. Gonzalez is coming off a terrible series this week, earning just one hit in his eleven at bats against Philadelphia. He also only has one home run in his last ten games, but can most likely guarantee you at least a hit or two every night. (Last 30 days: 22 R, 41 H, 6 HR, 25 RBI)

Paul Konerko (1B, White Sox) – The 35-year-old Konerko still has some game left in his tank, putting together a efficient effort for the month of June in Chicago. A little more than a week ago, Konerko was able to hit a home run in three straight games. His hot hitting has simmered down during the past week, so keep a close eye on him before laying the money down. (Last 30 days: 15 R, 32 H, 10 HR, 21 RBI)

Jose Reyes (SS, Mets) – The Mets’ prized shortstop continues to prove why he’s one of the finest in his position, leading the league with 43 hits in the past month. The lighting-fast Reyes also had 7 triples and 11 stolen bases in the month of June. Reyes can pile on the hits while also earning some stolen bases for your squad, another quality month for this shortstop. (Last 30 days: 29 R, 43 H, 2 HR, 15 RBI)

(Honorable Mentions: Justin Upton, Brennan Boesch, Nick Markakis, Carlos Pena, Miguel Cabrera, J.J. Hardy, Michael Morse)

Few Sluggers Heating Up

Evan Longoria (3B, Rays) – Tampa Bay’s third baseman looked terrific in the team’s series against Houston last week, totaling for eight hits, three homers and ten RBI totaling for 8 hits, 3 homers and 10 RBIs in those three games. He was decent in his last three games against Cincinnati and should be able to continue piling up hits for the Rays in the upcoming weeks. (Last 7 days: 7 R, 10 H, 4 HR, 13 RBI)

Aramis Ramirez (3B, Cubs) – Ramirez’s productivity has been coming in bursts this season for the Cubs. Chicago hasn’t looked as terrible as they did in the beginning of this season because some of their hitters are getting it together. Ramirez has been able to knock it out of the ballpark a little more often recently, including a two homer game against the Rockies last week. (Last 7 days: 9 R, 12 H, 4 HR, 6 RBI)

Daniel Murphy (2B, Mets) – The Mets are also seeing some clutch hitting coming from Murphy in the past week. The second-baseman was able to dominate during his most recent series against the Detroit Tigers, finishing with 6 hits and 7 RBIs in just those three games. (Last 7 days: 6 R, 12 H, 10 RBI)

Brandon Phillips (2B, Reds) – Cincinnati’s second-baseman had a rough day yesterday against the Rays, but has been tremendously productive for the club during the past week. His batting average continues to climb up after each game. As the Reds prepare to head back home for a series against Cleveland, expect Phillips to have a strong week behind the plate. (Last 7 days: 7 R, 12 H, 1 HR, 6 RBI)
