The 2011 NBA Draft will take place tomorrow night at 7 pm ET on ESPN. In what has been called a "weak" draft in terms of talent, there are no locks at any spot, including the No. 1 pick. After looking at all of the expert mock drafts, studying the draft websites and even checking in on what vegas has as odds, I've come up with my mock draft for the entire first round. Take a look at what player I have your team picking:
1. Cleveland Cavaliers (From Los Angeles Clippers) - Kyrie Irving - A solid point guard leading the offense is vital for any team to be successful in the NBA. With guards Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker as projected lottery picks, the Cavs could take a bigger player like Derrick Williams or Enes Kanter with the first overall pick and hope that a guard will fall to them at No. 4. But since Irving has proved to be better than Knight and Walker, it might tough to pass up the player who is widely considered the best player in the draft. My thought is that the Cavs will take Irving first and hope that Kanter falls to them at fourth.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves - Derrick Williams - The Wolves are trying to trade this pick because by selecting Williams as the future of the franchise they will inevitably need to move Michael Beasley. Williams and Beasley could co-exist next season, but both players will try to accomplish similar things on the court. NBADraft.net has Williams's player comparison as Beasley. I'd be surprised if Williams doesn't end up as a Timberwolf, but then again, I never saw the Ray Allen for Stephon Marbury, Brandon Roy for Randy Foye or O.J. Mayo for Kevin Love trades coming either.
3. Utah Jazz (From New Jersey) - Brandon Knight - Every expert has Knight going 3rd to Utah. However, the Jazz already have Devin Harris and also own the No. 12 pick, so there could be a possible trade that moves anyone from Knight or Harris to C.J. Miles or Andrei Kirilenko. Jazz General Manager Kevin O'Connor said on Monday that no player was off limits and didn't rule out make a draft-day deal.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers - Enes Kanter - It's no surprise that Jonas Valanciunas is a better foreign prospect than Kanter, but since his team in Lithuania may not allow him to play in the NBA until 2012, Kanter has been penned in the top 4. Some experts are even arguing that Kanter could go No. 1.
5. Toronto Raptors - Kemba Walker - The Raptors would be smart to draft Walker as the back-up to Jose Calderon. Walker is a well-coached winner and will bring the Raptors credibility as the leader of the most recent NCAA championship team. However, I've been hearing that Tony Parker could be a part of a trade that would give San Antonio this pick. If its Toronto's pick, and they haven't traded for Parker, Walker would do the job.
6. Washington Wizards - Jan Vesely - The reports are that Washington is desperate to move up to Utah's spot so that they can draft Kanter or even move up to Minnesota's spot to snag Williams. Washington has the ability to make a move with the No. 6 and No. 18 overall picks. Either way, the Wizards aren't exactly going to be happy settling for Vesely, who is actually a long (6-11) and athletic scorer that would complement John Wall, Nick Young, Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee in the starting line-up.
7. Sacramento Kings - Kawhi Leonard - The Kings are looking to add a point guard and a small forward, but they are also looking for a veteran to help them right away. Adding Leonard to DeMarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, I think that Sacramento will be set for a Western Conference playoff run in 2013. They might have to make a trade if they are trying to make that playoff push any earlier.
8. Detroit Pistons - Jonas Valanciunas - Rumor has it that the Pistons like Markieff Moris (yes, over Marcus). They also like Bismack Biyombo and Tristan Thompson. The Pistons feel that Biyombo, Markieff and Thompson will be there at the end of the lottery so they are looking to move down. Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Detroit is talking with Houston about trading down to one of the Rockets picks at 14th or 23rd. I'm putting in Valanciunas as the Pistons pick, but I think it might be Houston making it. If the Pistons are forced to make a choice for themselves, I'm leaning toward Biyombo.
9. Charlotte Bobcats - Bismack Biyombo - There is the idea that with newly hired GM Rich Cho in charge, the Bobcats might have a long-term plan. That long-term plan could involve 18 year-old Biyombo from the Congo. I've seen Biyombo going as high as No. 5 overall and as low as No. 23. When it comes to players who get talked up and down, you'll probably see them land somewhere in the middle. And I think it's in the middle of Charlotte's long-term rebuilding plan.
10. Milwaukee Bucks - Marcus Morris - Much like every team in every position of this draft, the Bucks are rumored to be looking to get out of this position. One of those rumors has Minnesota trading Darko Milicic, other filler and the No. 2 overall pick for Andrew Bogut, Corey Maggette and the No. 10 overall pick. Marcus Morris is a solid pick at the 10th spot.
11. Golden St. Warriors - Klay Thompson - This week the Warriors have had to deny trade rumors involving their star Monta Ellis. Ellis, Andris Biedrins and Ekpe Udoh were rumored to be offered to the Magic for Dwight Howard. Golden State could take Klay Thompson in preparation of trading Ellis.
12. Utah Jazz - Jimmer Fredette - Everyone wants the Jazz to take Jimmer, right? So (NBA) predictable. The Jazz win the replacement of Deron Williams (Brandon Knight) and also get Jimmer.
13. Phoenix Suns - Tristan Thompson - Thompson is one of my favorite players in this draft. If any player outside of the Top 10 has a shot at going to multiple All-Star games, its 20-year-old Thompson.
14. Houston Rockets - Markieff Morris - I think that this will be Detroit's pick and they love who they like, Markieff Morris.
15. Indiana Pacers - Alec Burks - I'm not going to believe that players like Marshon Brooks and Chris Singleton will get drafted ahead of Burks just because they had good workouts. If the Pacers don't take Burk, it'll probably be Brooks.
16. Philadelphia 76ers - Nikola Vucevic - The choice has pretty much been made. The Sixers need to get bigger and as one of the only 7-footers in the draft, Vucevic fits the bill (7-0, 260).
17. New York Knicks - Kenneth Faried - Faried is a hustle player that I have heard every team past 19 say that they want to draft. I think that the Knicks sneak ahead of the curve and take the Moorehead State power forward as a solid reserve for Amare Stoudemire.
18. Washington Wizards (from Atlanta) - Chris Singleton - Impressive workouts can't take a late first rounder and make him a lottery pick, I see Singleton falling somewhere in the middle of the draft.
19. Charlotte Bobcats (from New Orleans) - Marshon Brooks - Brooks is another player who has climbed up draft boards, going as high as No. 15. I don't think that the Bobcats could pass up grabbing him at No. 19.
20. Minnesota Timberwolves (from Memphis) - Jordan Hamilton - The Timberwolves are trying to trade this pick, but they might be on the clock when it comes up and Hamilton is a safe pick.
21. Portland Trailblazers - Donatas Motiejunas - After being projected as a top-10 pick in mid-May, Motiejunas's stock has dropped because of NBA GM's concerns "regarding his deficiencies as a defender, rebounder and all-around competitor", among other things. Not good.
22. Denver Nuggets - Tobias Harris - Harris is only 18-years-old so he might not be ready to contribute right away. He's on every experts draft board going No. 22 to Denver.
23. Houston Rockets (from Orlando) - Iman Shumpert - The Rockets might need to take a player like Kyle Singler or Tyler Honeycutt over a guard. It might depend on how things go earlier in the round.
24. Oklahoma City Thunder - Chandler Parsons - I think Parsons is picked by the Thunder because they are looking for a versatile player who can play multiple positions. Another thing I think the Thunder will like about Parsons is that he's 22 and will be ready to contribute to a another Western Conference Final run right now.
25. Boston Celtics - Kyle Singler - Singler could be a good minute filler for KG and Paul Pierce. If the Celtics lose Big Baby to free agency, Singler could step right in.
26. Dallas Mavericks - Davis Bertans - If you are the Mavs, I guess you can wait a couple years until an 18 year-old prospect is ready to play. It is also reported that the Spurs have made a promise to Bertans at No. 29 if he's not drafted before that.
27. New Jersey Nets (from Los Angeles Lakers) - Trey Thompkins - According to NBADraft.net his NBA comparison is Channing Frye, which would be a great fit for New Jersey.
28. Chicago Bulls (from Miami) - Tyler Honeycutt - Chicago can afford to take a young player and mold him as they build their championship roster. Honeycutt might not be ready right now, but experts are saying he has a very high upside.
29. San Antonio Spurs - Nikola Mirotic - At 20-years-old, Mirotic signed a deal with Real Madrid until 2015. The Spurs are the perfect franchise for a player like Mirotic. He could be the next Manu Ginobili or Tony Parker.
30. Chicago Bulls - Reggie Jackson - By drafting Jackson, the Bulls can add another young guard to an already young and talented backcourt.
There are plenty of other quality players that could easily find their names called in the first round. Those just off my list include Nolan Smith, JuJuan Johnson, Justin Harper, Norris Cole, Travis Leslie, Shelvin Mack, John Selby, E'twuan Moore, David Lighty, DeAndre Liggins and Darius Morris.
